Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Just finished my chicken coup and want to get 3 pullets for it. It is fenced in and wanting to do some backyard "farming". Live in Allegany county, Maryland. Any help in finding some chickens near by would be greatly appreciated,

I am new to chickens my girls are 18 days old I bought my chicks from an on line hatchery. Beautiful healthy chicks. Good luck with your chicks when you get them

Sussex,Rhode Island red,Australops,Buff Orpington..looking to have some eggs and mostly as a hobby,only want 3 or 4 at the most

Hi there and welcome to BYC.
Since you live in a rural part of Maryland (I grew up in md) you have a lot of options.
craigslist : use the search option and just use the word chicken.

There’s a tractor supply store in Cumberland.
Go in.
Lots of people who work at TSC are chicken keepers. Ask them if there are any hobby breeders around. They know everyone.
You could ask if they have any they’d like to sell, and there is usually have a bulletin board where people post ads.

My local TSC store has some chicks right now. Not a lot like they do in the spring, during “chick days” but some.

Lots of people buy from hatcheries as well and have them shipped.
