I went out to feed my geese some bread by hand. I have one that will eat out of my open palm and also nibble on my toes.....thinking it might be bread (white socks..ha) my problem is right now the chickens jump all in my face demanding bread too. it seems to scare off the geese when I am swatting at chickens.
My idea for today is to wait until near dark and close up the chickens then spend some time alone with the geese. without competition they will come around easier.
I happened to come across this thread somehow, but I know it's like 12 years old, lol. But I wanted to reply because my two boys (one's the father, and one is -- I assume male by his size and budding assertiveness -- his son) can be very affectionate.
I'll pick them up and hold them up to my face and kiss them on the bills. They'll nuzzle their heads on my shoulder. The baby (who's bigger than everyone now) loves napping on my lap. Though he hasn't gotten to recently because of the snow, so I haven't been sitting outside with them, haha.
My two girl geese (one is the mom, and the other I assume is female by the mating with the older male) are not interested. The mom goose is okay if I pick her up, but she's not interested in affection. And the other goose (took her in at 3 months old) was super skittish with guys apparently and toward my BF, but she was okay with me at first. But then she just got more and more skittish of everyone, so she runs from me all the time. Super fast and super hard to catch sometimes when I need to put them to bed. XD
