So I've gone around and around with Top Hatch regarding temperature control of their incubator. They were nice enough to send me a new base unit with what I hope is a new design of their temperature control module. I finally got it adjusted where it was hovering in the 98 to 99 degree range. If I set it any higher I'm afraid that it'll spike on me as I've seen their controls do it before.

Lo and behold yesterday, after putting 40 eggs in on Sunday evening, I come home to find it idling away at 102.

I got it to cool down and dropped the temperature adjustment 1/4 turn lower.
This morning I checked it and again it was around 101.

My first hatch with it last year produced very weak 1 chick out of 40 eggs. I then bought a Brinsea Eco 20.

My first hatch with it this year yielded 13 chicks which were much weaker than with my first Brinsea hatch this year. Of those 13, 1 was barely developed and died and another is a real runt compared to the others.

Sorry to rant. I'm just real tired of fighting an incubator. I have a very strong suspicion that I'll be building a cabinet incubator in the not too distant future. I work as a PLC engineer so getting a very accurately controlled environment will be no problem at all.
