I noticed a crack in one of my button quail eggs (we've got two days to go before hatch date) but the crack was going inwards, not out. So I pulled it out to see what was up. The inside of the egg (yolk and all) was solid. No growth had started. Just... solid... stuff. It's really confusing, because I tried to hatch a few quail eggs months ago in one of those crappy little yellow incubators and got the same results. Now I'm using a brinsea mini with autoturner, the temperature hasn't fluctuated more than +/- .2, and the humidity has been stable. So what am I doing wrong?

Hopefully I'll have some babies out of this, but I really didn't think quail would be so difficult. I've hatched ducks and chickens with no problems.

sometimes the mail is just to much for them don't give up, you should get some also I leave mine in up to 21 days sometimes they are slow to hatch. If nothing hatches after day 21 I would open them to see if any of the eggs started at all, if none did I think I would try a different breeder

same thing happened to me out of 50 eggs i got 3 live babies they were from 2 different clutches one was in december 25 eggs 2 babies 2 died in the egg the rest were duds again the 9th of january 25 eggs, 1 live baby and 2 died in the eggs the rest were duds. I did get a male out of the deal so i wont be ordering any more eggs for a while.
