Gotta love Arizona. (I'm a native, so I get to critique.) We are broke, broke, broke, thanks to "Nappy" and people who want to have the government be all. I won't tell you what the old-timers here call her. It's not suitable for young ears.

Do you think they will really do it, or do you think it is a scare tactic?

Our governor cut a bunch of money from the budget that funds two local zoos, and the zoo administrators told the media that the budget cuts were so bad they might have to euthanize the tigers and such. Then everyone freaked out, and they figured out how to keep the zoo budgets and cut other stuff, passed an extra sales-type tax that had previously been controversial. People would rather pay a bit more for gas, cigarettes than euthanize cute fuzzy tigers, and the state congresscritters know it.

I hate the scare tactics that hurting governments (like my city one) use, which is "If you don't let us tax you more, our only choice is to fire police officers and fire fighters, and we'll have to close down some prisons." Now THAT is a load of BS. Geez, I can't remember once those politicians taking a pay cut or pension cut or health care cut or ANY cut, but letting prisoners out marauding with no sign of 1st Responders, that's the wise option. Every time I hear this, I remember their names. Anyone that evil should not be a representative of the people.

Jeez, well, I must grudgingly give our state congresscritters a teensy bit of credit in that case--many of 'em actually turned down the salary raises and bonuses they had voted for in 2006. Not before the local radio stations threw hissyfits about it, but afterwards, they did give the money back (as well as an increase in pension benefits I think). Naturally they made a giant to-do about how they sympathized with us commoners, but at least they did give it back.

It's got to be the Governor of Arizona that got transferred to Homeland Security head honcho. Napolitano. She is a Democrat. The BHO of course is the esteemed leader of the United States. President Obama. So I'm sure you can put together the rest of the picture.
