elbows should be reaching to the top of his hip bone. try making his arm a bit longer, and see if it looks better.

This makes him look a little weirder. I think it's just his arm position

Try looking at your own arm in that pose in the mirror and noting the curves to the arm and at what angle you naturally hold it.

For hands, the general rule is that they should be about the same size as the face.
