So, I just tried a new to me, way of shading. I like it.
Before: I had a layer for every color and then a multiply and add layer for each of those. using what ever I thought would work. I also had a multiply layer of some shade of blue that I erased sections out of to make the softer highlights.

After: Obviously this is unfinished what with the color going outside the lines and I still have no clue what to do with the pants. BUT
Layer 1(Normal layer) is all grey. Layer 2 (multiply) is the same grey used to make shadows I used pencil at a lower opacity. Layer 3 (multiply) I wanted some of my shadows darker than I could seem to get. I did the same as layer 2, though some of it was darker. Layer 4(dodge) all of the highlights. Layer 5(Overlay) all the color.

This is the same picture without layer 5:

I prefer the second version. It was far simpler than what I had been doing, Took maybe an hour total vs. 3 or 4 days, and I think it turned out better.

Wasp exploring.jpg

Wasp girl again. I was trying to draw someone else, but she just keeps popping up. I have no idea what she's doing in a cave. But seeing as how she could easily damage her little wings on the rocks I can see why she wouldn't like going in here. But why would she go in? I need to know more about her.

Nice! I like the rocks. She's a cute character!

oh, there's a thought. Hmm. Now I'm picturing her at a beach on a class trip or something and she is driven by some unknown feeling to defend the first hole she finds. and all her class mates are giving her weird looks, while she's screeching and stomping around at anybody that comes close. :gig
