I have a 12 week old Arucana hen that I noticed yesterday evening was not acting right. Today she did not come down off the roost, although she was walking back and forth on it.She will not open hers eyes and is keep her mouth slightly open. Yesterday she seemed to have a foamy mouth and today or seems dried up. I gave her some water via syringe, but she has not drank or are on her own today at all and I am not sure about yesterday. I checked her over for and wound and she does not appear to have been attacked by anything, her abdomen and the rest of her body appear to be normal...I am at a loss. I have quarantined her from my other chickens and guineas as a precaution. I have called several vets and there are none in my area that deal with chickens, Very frustrating! I am awaiting a call back from a vet in another state to see of she can be of any help. So, I figured I would turn to this group and see if anyone could possibly offer any help.

Welcome aboard! :frow
We are glad you joined our flock.
How does her crop feel?
Does she have a smell coming from her mouth?

Can you post a few pictures of her?
You must keep offering water, often, dehydration can kill.
Make sure you do not squirt it down the wrong pipe though.
Look here:#1 Scroll down and look at the mouth pictures.

Sounds like she is not eating....would you be willing to tube feed her until you can figure out what caused this?
The same post I linked above has tube feeding instructions.

How many other birds do you have and what are their ages?
Any new flock members?
Go watch their poop....report back what their poop looks like too.
Pics are better.

She is one of the 3 newest to our flock. We have had her since she was a hatching and she is about 12 weeks old now. The other two are fine. All is our other chickens and guineas a year pulse. I have a pic of her poop and her, but I can not seem to upload from my gallery....she is now opening her eyes a slit and closing her mouth more, but still will not eat or drink on her own. She has started scratching by her right eye with her foot. I have been giving her water with some antibiotics in it about every hour all of today. I did manage to find a vet that will see her tomorrow at 1pm. Hopefully she makes it!
