I've been reading up on the coop and chicken part, thats the easy part. Does anyone have any input on getting the spouse to buy in to the having chickens part.

Chickens are cheap and easy to take care of (if you don't have too many)! They are so fun to watch, and if you handle them enough they can be just as sweet as a dog. AND they give you eggs ( and meat if you want it)! Hope you can convince her! And welcome from Indiana!!!

I took my wife and 2 girls to southern states in the spring.. When I knew they would have chicks in.. Well my 2 girls instantly fell in love and we left with 6. Of course the kids "paid " for there own chicks.....

My excuse was that I needed seeds for the garden..

Go to the store, pick a few small chicks up and give them to your wife as an I love you present.

. Make sure you buy some pine chips, brooder lamp and bulb, medicated starter feed, a waterer, and food dish. They are so cute as small chicks, she'll fall in love.
