Ash from untreated wood for dust bath

We have a pellet stove and use the ash for a dust bath that is made from a plastic doghouse (which has a removable top.) I lift the dog house roof and dump the ash bucket in. I then clean the stove and put the ash in the bucket. It sits in the bucket until I need to clean the stove again.

Jumping in with a question, so it is perfectly safe to just add wood ash to the run? Or do you also need to mix it with dirt?
I just use plain ash from perfectly natural wood (usually mine's pine). Of course, my chooks don't use it though. The yard is for dust bathing, and the tub of ash is a decoration. The quail like it though.

Thanks! We burn logs & old bills in our fire pit, so I’ll throw some ashes in the run!
