Just stumbled across this thread and I've got the same question. I only use "natural" briquettes or hardwood lump. I never use lighter fluid and only start fires with paper or cotton soaked with a little bit of alcohol or kitchen grease which should be completely burned off by the time it's lit, let alone cooled.Depends on what was burned for fuel.
Untreated wood, sure.
Charcoal briquettes that might have/had an accelerate in it,
probably not a good idea.
