Asil Chicks

@roosterhavoc do male gamefowl give any warning before they turn on each other? the breeder said to separate the males by 16 weeks, but they are already 11 weeks old and don't fight ever. They were hatched and raised by 2 separate broody hens (each hen got one egg) but the black one left his mom to join the brown one.

Definately male asils, right?? (ignore the photobombing turkey)

I can’t completely tell by those pictures if they’re both stags or not, the bird on the left is but not sure about the black one.
Listen to the breeder. They don’t always just lead up to getting more aggressive. One day they’ll be best friends and the next they’re killing each other. If you don’t want a destroyed bird I suggest you follow his advice.

They both look totally male. Red combs, sickle tail feathers and everything. Their houses are almost ready and the only reason I am waiting to separate them is because they act like BFFs.

Yeah I looked closer at the pictures both male.
Are you not wanting to separate them? Or are you just questioning whether you think it’s necessary? Are they loose or in a pen? If you’re always around when they’re loose then you can easily find out by waiting past the recommended time to see what happens. I wouldn’t leave them loose past the age he told you if you aren’t watching them though. If they’re in a pen I’d separate them now to avoid problems. These aren’t the kinda birds that live peacefully with other males.

They are loose (free range). I am at home all day but not watchng 24/7. I'm worried they will be stressed out if I separate them too soon. They cheep loudly if one gets separated from the other.
