I have a rooster whose tail feathers flare left and right rather than down. I like the look and am wanting to try and replicate/enhance that trait in future offspring. He is pictured. Are there any specific traits in hens I should look for to breed him back to, in order to achieve this?

That may molt out in final molt. Have a Taiwan that had a tail similar to that when he was younger.
I didn't consider the molt changing it. 😭 Guess I'll revisit this pipe dream after the molt with updates. 😂 If he doesn't keep them he's the most unique bird off the mix. He's always had lacing like a hen and he's slowly lost it on his back as he's matured. And when he flares his hackles, all of the feathers around his neck don't flare out, he just sends a ridge of them down the center of his head back like a dog. 😂 Beautiful birds by the way!

It's alright. Certain funky things that happen with my younger birds tend to molt out, this sickle thing is one of them.

Updates are always nice.

Thanks, I only kept the boy on the right though.
