The short answer is that I'm not sure yet

The longer answer is that I'm leaning towards ER. My instructor today was predicting what each of us would end up in, and she said I'd be an acute care nurse for a couple years until I got bored, and then end up in ER or somewhere really fast paced.

She said I would never be a good ICU nurse because I always forget to label my IV tubing

Just like the pictures you sent Continuously running tubing needs to be changed every 72 hrs to 7 days, and if the patient is unhooked at any time, it’s good for 24 hours. High risk drugs like heparin are also labeled.

Why is that "high risk"?

Heparin is an anticoagulant, meaning it prevents blood clots from forming. The other side of that is that it significantly increases your risk for bleeding. If you give someone the wrong dose of heparin, they can have a fatal hemorrhage, because their blood just won’t clot in time. It’s scary stuff.

Hi Abby! I noticed in a thread a few years ago, you mentioned you had a hen that "didn't breathe right." She's an old biddy who is eating and drinking well, preening, doing all the hen stuff. We did try to treat her but she still sometimes open mouth breathes. Did you ever "cure" your hen or did she just live with the breathing issues?
