any duck question at all! Any duck or waterfowl question will not be considered hi-jacking by me. I dont know what other people will say but I don't think it is. Ask away and I hope your questions are answered!

I would say maybe 4 weeks old. Wait until they've lost their fluff and have actual feathers. And then keep an eye on them, make sure they can get out of the pool when they want to.

If you are watching them they can swim after a couple days out of the egg. Short swims, and dry them off before putting them in the brooder.

I have 4 male ducks, no females. They are about 6 months old, and we plan on butchering them.

If I buy three or four more ducklings, hoping to get a female, would it be better to breed her with a male that we get at the same time, or should I keep one of these older guys?

If you have a drake right now that you really like, go ahead and keep him. If you're not fond of any of them, butcher them and start fresh with new ducklings.

I have several Muscovy babies and I was wondewring if there was a way to figure out what color they will be as adults?? They are just starting to feather and I want to keep a few but not all of them and I would like to know what colors I was keeping.

I have one duck that I keep with some younger chickens. The duck is about 6 months, the chickens are about 3 months. Once I decide to let the chickens free range, can I let the duck free range too? Will he know to come back like the chickens? He is a Mallard. Ive only had him for about a month, and he does great with the chickens.

If he gets along with the chickens, he will probably hang around them and come back with them. Whenever I let my ducks out in the yard, they stay together in a group, so maybe your duck would do that with the chickens.

Heres my question, Is it ok to use diluted bleach water, on the ground around the pool. My ducks have got 2 separate areas now YIPPEE. One is for the pool and food and a pan of water, that I put treats in for them, and of course for them to get all nasty and yucky,, much easier to change the pan of water all through the day:D The other new addition is a big grassy area, with just there house in it!! I know the grass won't last long, but I am hoping longer without water in there. anyway the pool area gets so poopy and nasty, it is mainly mud plus sand that I have added. It is on a good slope, so I usually just hose it off! But I feel like that isn't enough to take care of all the bacteria brewing there!! I was wondering if it would be safe for the ducks, to bleach it out after they go to bed? And then rinse it well the next morning??
