I hate wasabi. I know, heresy.
I can't seem to taste wasabi - at least, what passes for wasabi at major restaurants. My son, who takes pride in being able to eat just about any kind of hot pepper, was gagging at the heat of wasabi at a restaurant once. I can't abide any kind of chili or pepper, and won't even eat bell peppers if I can help it. I know, they're not hot, I just don't care for their acidic, metallic taste. So I said, Pass me the wasabi and tried a tiny drop. Could not taste anything. I ended up eating huge dollops of it, shrug, no reaction, while my son was freaking out. He couldn't eat it at all. Same with horseradish. It has a pleasant, mild vegetal flavor to me, but that's it. So explain that. 🤷🏽‍♀️

That's so interesting!

The "wasabi" that you get in most restaurants and the grocery stores is 99% horseradish, some green dye, and maybe a bit of real wasabi.

The stomach sickness being normal? No, for me I used to eat lots of the stuff and my stomach said no one day.
Oh, I also had that problem. It's gone now that I eat a more balanced diet and lots of Greek yogurt. I guess my problem was probiotics, and eating too much sugar.
Popcorn has always given me trouble though.

Popcorn and corn in general are "eat in moderation" foods. Our gut doesn't process them well and they can trigger diverticulosis/itis as you get older, which sucks.

Source: Had surgical correction for diverticulitis that became very bad. 0 stars.
