We currently have 3 hens and one overly friendly roo, we are absolutely planning on getting more (we used to have a few more hens and such, but sadly had to get rid of some due to some aggression) we are thinking about some silkies to add to the flock in a few weeks! (1 roo - 3 hens isnt enough hens to Balance it out, which is why we Are upgrading. But dont worry, hes friendly little guy! Just very noisy)
We have to many of those here! Red mites are such pests.I found ticks in my hensBut red mites OH my!

It is very sad! Silkies are gorgeous, and birds in general are very smart! They just dont have very awesome front view eyesight, so mine sometimes bump into glass doors thinking its open! still their my little intestines. It kills mites instantly. Or I like to put one drop of lavender essential oil on the chickens back near the tail. It works more for prevention then treatment but every little countsThats a great idea, we should try that.
