i am drinking my coffee and getting my nerve up !! a lot to do out there. water the babies, feed the others if their still able, start the cars. im gonna have to do this in shifts . its -50 with the wind chill and your right, no sane person my age should be out there in this. of course i never claimed to be !Granny hatchet and everyone enduring the article vortex, I feel for you! We're hunkered down in SW WI mad it is nasty. As of 11 p.m. Last nite, we had no casualties and animals were handling things as well as we can hope for. I'll finish my coffee and start gearing up for the a.m. Check soon. In addition to the physical traits of a solid coop for this sort of wether, I think it is worth considering the likelihood that power can be maintained if established... My ladies have a lovely coop and probably would've been fine but it is quite a hike from the house and I was worried the cold would knock out their heated watered and it would be too dangerous for a human to walk so far in these temps to check.
I am so sorry!!i have lost my beautiful white polish roo.even the babies in the barn with the heat lamps have a bit of frost bite. batteries on both cars are dead. people dont forget to start your cars and let them run for a bit.![]()
