Aspen pines shavings vs. regular pine shavings

Yes, either is fine as long as the space you're keeping them in has proper ventilation.
They are different though. Aspen is a hardwood with no harmful oils. Obviously most pine shavings sold for use around pets are kiln dried, bc of the oils. Sometimes the drying process isn't as exact as it should be and the bag still has a strong pine odor or the shavings are damp. In those cases, I remove them from the bag and let them air out and dry.
Either will make a cushy place for your critter to lay. Just take a little more care with the pine :)
