Aspen wood shavings

Aspen (and poplar) have low aromatic properties and will be safe for bedding. Expensive, but safe.

At least that was what I've noticed in the past. Aspen shavings are about 5 bucks for a small bag and a large bale of compressed pine shavings cost about the same.

I had to switch to the aspen for my nests because the new shipment of pine shavings at TSC are way too course. the aspen is $9.99 for 2 cubic feet compressed, a little pricey, but then not really for the comfort of my hens and to get clean eggs.
