Hey there everyone! After coming here seeking answers since I got my first chickens two years ago, I decided it was time to join. I currently have 12 hens, 16 new chicks, 4 ducks, 1 drake, and 2 geese. My ducks are Silver Appleyards and the geese are American Buffs. I have wide variety of chickens (I love collecting different breeds!) My husband and I are in our 50/60s, originally from CA but now in KY where we are working to create a "retirement homestead" that will allow us to grow and raise most of our food in our retirement years and in these uncertain times. We have plans to add more animals to the homestead next year - milk goats, rabbits, and quail as well as chickens, ducks & geese for that are just for meat. My current birds are for eggs. My geese are pure pets. Geese are my very favorite animal. We have three grown children and six grandchildren. We love having a place in the country where the grandkids can come and explore the outdoors and enjoy learning about farm life.
