My pretty Isabella Brahma girl finally laid her first egg! She's a big girl, and her comb's been red for a few weeks, so I've been waiting for it.
I went to collect the Marans eggs this afternoon, and spotted her sitting on a nest for the very first time. I thought it might be a practice sit, but no, five minutes later I heard a new eggsong, and there was a lovely medium-sized just off-white egg! No wee pullet eggs or fart eggs for her.
Nine and a half months old. I know they say they're slow-maturing, but that's pretty extreme!
