I love the idea of a swing for the chickens; I'm going to see if I can make one for my turkeys...they like perching more than my hens.

As I was going to sleep last night I decided that putting up a swing for my chickens was going to be the project of the today. I plumb forgot all about it until now. Thanks for the reminder!

I was going to find a log like that down in the wood to use, too. My chicks grew up roosting on the long side of a 2x4. When I put up a 2" to 3" log roost in their run, they never sat on that 2x4 again. The seem to prefer rounded surfaces.

Well, I went out in the woods and found a little log and made a swing. I decided to make a long, communal swing and see what kind of chaos it would create.

I sat in the run with my camera and waited and watched for an hour or so. I finally got this series of pics of the first chicken to try out the swing. Right after the last pic she jumped off. Couldn't handle the swinging, I guess! LOL
