I know there will not be an exact answer because all hens are different but I want to know the average age hens get broody I have 3 RIR and 2 blue 1black, 1 buff and 1 splash Ameraucanas. I had 2 blacks but the one got sick and it died and I am anxious for a hen to go broody so I can get more fluffy butts in my flock. My hens are all 13 weeks. Yes I know it is way to early especially cause they haven't started laying eggs yet Lol thanks

Well, they need to be laying first, so at minimum another 3 weeks. Then, it can happen anytime, although I don't think it's too common for one to get broody right after she starts laying. You're better off finding some chicks for sale if you want them right away. You didn't say if you have a rooster or not either, but obviously you'll need one before anyone may go broody.

I had an black ameraucana who started laying at 5 months, and then just went broody at 6 months. It's been 2 weeks, she's still broody (I put some fertile eggs for her to sit on).
