My 4 week old chicks have been out in my coop/run for 3 weeks. They are separated from my other hens, but in an area previously occupied by the others. Today I saw some roundworms in one of the hens poop. I have picked up some valbazen and will worm the older girls in the AM. My question is at what age should I worm the chicks and with what wormer? Thanks

:frow Do you have a scale to weigh the chicks?

Could you collect some of the chicks poop and run it into a vet for a fecal float test to check for worms?
It's a pretty cheap test.

I guess I'd need a kitchen scale to weigh small chicks? Right now the babies poop looks fine, just wasn't sure how old they'd have to be to worm them and what wormer and dosage would be best. Since I saw a couple worms in the hens poop I figured it's best to worm everyone. The hens range in age from 4-1 and have never been wormed. I can ask the local vets if they'll test for worms, though none were interested in helping when I had a case of bumble foot earlier!

Worm testing for all animals is pretty much done the exact same way, I'd ask.

What are you going to use to worm your adult flock?
Safeguard?
