At What age?

Can i add a about a 5 month old pullet with a rooster. I have a rooster that is about a year and half old. That is lonely and i dont have any adult hens i was wondering if 5 months would be too younge?

At that age she should be getting ready to lay, so I would think it would be okay. BUT, you will want to watch them together closely because your roo will be ready to mate as your pullet might not be and he might hurt her. If it looks like she is not ready and he is being persistent I would take her back out and wait until she lays her first egg, which shouldn't be much longer.

that was my main worry was him trying to mate her when she wasn't ready and hurting her. I believe she is real close to laying tho she does not sound like a chick anymore she sings now like iv heard my hens do before and clucks.
