I'm sharing your sense of relief! Ours like crumbles too but my husband bought pellets the last time he went to the feed store.
They were wasting a lot of the crumbles, so I thought it would be worth a try to change them over. They did NOT like the pellets. I thought, like some others mentioned - if they got hungry enough, they would eat, but it just didn't seem like the level of food in the feeder was moving over a period of several days.
I finally realized they DO like scratching around the run to pick up treats or seeds, so I started tossing a handful of the pellets into the run -- and they started eating it! Wooh! That was a relief because I was afraid they weren't eating enough.
They are laying and I can't tell they were losing any weight; but with the heat we've been having -- when they started eating again, it was one less thing I had to worry about with them!
