Hello friends,

all my previous attempts at loading a larger picture of my BLACK CRESTED POLISH, has been unsuccessful, until now.

I hope someone can give their opinion on whether my 8 week old baby is a HEN OR ROO.

I am having a major problem with the baby, tho..

He/she is VERY AGGRESSIVE toward the BLACK JERSEY GIANT, AND A 4 WEEK OLD WHITE LEGHORN...BOTH ARE HENS!

I also have an 8 week old SILVER LACED WYANDOTTE hen that the Polish ADORES, and is very protective of her.

The Jersey Giant is soooooo DOCILE and gentle , she is my 14 yr old son's " LAP CHICKEN" , and they BOTH are in Love with each other!!! LOL...

When all the babies were 2 weeks old, the POLISH just started Pecking the top of the GIANT'S head, and stepped on her to where the GIANT'S foot was injured.

I separated the GIANT from the WYANDOTTE AND POLISH, so she could " RECOVER" and walk.

Well, the GIANT became " Depressed", sulked and just wanted to sit on my son's lap and be " cuddled"..

I knew that this was going to turn into a worse problem, so I bought a WHITE LEGHORN hen, to be her " mate" and snap her out of her depression.

IT WORKED!!

The GIANT is just fine, however, the Leghorn wants the Giant's attention, and the Giant just kind of ignores her, yet is BONDED with her.

I still have the GIANT AND LEGHORN separated from the WYANDOTTE AND POLISH, because when we do let ALL 4 together, AGAIN, the POLISH starts Chasing and Pecking the LEGHORN'S AND GIANT'S head and back!!

SO...

I MIGHT have to find the POLISH a NEW LOVING HOME, because they are ALL getting ready to be SLOWLY introduced to my flock of 4 month old PEKIN DUCK, 4 MTH OLD ROUEN DRAKE AND DUCK...AND MY ( 2 ) 4 MONTH OLD BARRED ROCK HENS,..

All of those are VERY BONDED...

I also have a SALMON FAVORELLE ROO who is bonded with my 3 month old PARTRIDGE ROCK HEN!!

Im not sure what to do about my aggressive BC POLISH, because if he/she thinks it will be " top bird" out in the yard, my DRAKE will possibly hurt it because HE is TOP BIRD!!

I love ALL MY BIRDS and i do not want ANYONE hurt, but if I have to, I will find the Polish a new LOVING home.

I appreciate any advice along with whether the baby is a ROO OR HEN.

Thanks,

DD

Look at the feathers on the head closely. If they come to a fine point, you have a rooster. If rounded, you have a hen. From your pic looks rooish but hard to tell for sure.

wow..have no clue...but they say my turkens are odd looking...lol...that is one unique looking bird!!!

<g> seriously...I have NO CLUE!! Hope soeone else chimes in here!
