There are a lot of newbies on this board and they ask a lot of questions. This is great and everyone tries to help out.

But if you want to have a one on one discussion with other poultry owners, have a fun time, and make new friends, check out a Chickenstock in your area.

Chickenstock was started by BYC as a way for Backyard Chicken members to meet each other. It has grown to global proportions and there are gatherings all over the US and a couple overseas. It was even featured in the Tractor Supply magazine, and some have had newspaper coverage.

Check this section for a Chickenstock near you !

I joined this board too late to attend the Chickenstock in Alabama. Maybe I can get there next year.

hey all.....the only thing I get confused about is: some members are ADAMENT about biosecurity......in that you really wouldn't want to bring in other chickens unless they hatch them----yet a lot of us like to go to swaps etc. to get chickens. How long do you quaranteen if you go purchase from swaps ? It seems to be two very opposite views sometimes.

A 30 day minimum quarantine is best.

At the Texas Chickenstock, members brought birds or eggs to swap, but they were kept on the opposite side of my house, far, far away from my coops. Anyone visiting the coops must walk through a bleach solution first.
