I think i found my breed,

Hi, are mallards noisy? I dont think they are, i've noticed that they are really great pets and i think im going to hatch... 3! Yes, 3! I was going to hatch only 2 duckies but what if one passes? Tell me your thoughts on mallards for hatching...and should i hatch 2 or 3? I'll check back soon so give me some answers! I know mallards are very tiny compared to most ducks so i like that about them. well i hope to see some good answers! Thanks everyone for all your help!

If i get good feedback on mallards this may be the last thread regarding which breed to hatch. I'll probably have more q's about mallards though.
(PS i was going to get the eggs from Metzer Farms so dont think im gonna kidnap them from a lake lol!)

Loving owner of one crazy cute lionhead bunny, Scooter, and Daisy-an old lady chocolate lab who still acts like a puppy.

My Mallards are less noisy than most of my other birds but far from quiet. If your trying to hatch 3 you really should set more than 3 eggs. A lot can go wrong during the incubation so I would probably set 4 or 5.

I understand they are definately going to quack. I dont expect them to be silent but its good that they are not as noisy as most ducks. Thanks for replying to most of my threads! It really helped! I hope more people reply to this thread!

Completely agree that you should set more than 3 eggs. Waterfowl are a little harder to hatch than chickens. Plus, if the eggs are being shipped then you'll be less likely to have a 100% hatch rate. Good luck

Thanks for the advice! I'll definately set more than 3 now.
