Yes, they are free ranging in my suburban backyard. (Don't know size.) Not tiny but not huge. At night they all go in the pen to the coop. Later I go out and lock the door as we have racoons and Possums. Early morning I let them into the yard again. I think by the time they lay or get close they will ALL stay in the pen. BIG poops in my grass.
I do like to go barefoot...but not now.
I have trees and bushes. Lots of places for them to hide or keep cool. I have a picket fence around my garden and the younger ones can slip in there at times. Not a problem right now in Oct..
