I use the Canon D60 and couldn't be more happy with it. It has tons of features right on the camera.

I would love a d60. Mine's old school (d10)! I keep thinking I am going to upgrade, I keep telling myself it's not the camera, it's the photographer! I would recommend the rebel, it's a great place to start. Also try the local camera stores for used dslr's.
