Thanks to a lot of leg work and many conversations with a couple of city council members, on August 11th Councilmember Ben Southworth publicly polled the council to see if they were open to discussing changing the zoning ordinance to allow hens in Residential Zones here.
The discussion was very favorable from all of city council, the mayor and the police chief. Audio can be heard here (it's at the very end, starts at 59 minutes): http://www.wjordan.com/Audio.aspx
They have asked the code enforcement division to draft something to be discussed in the next two months. I presented them with a copy of the recently passed Draper City Resolution which it sounds like they may use as a framework for one in our town.
Now is the time to call your city council member and voice your opinion as they discuss this issue.
