AUGH my babies won't stop cheeping!

I am new to this, too. I read "a thermometer is a chick's best friend" or something like that. My chicks were making a rukus & I fund that it was down to 80 degrees in the brooder. That's pretty hot to me ( a Michigander), but they needed me to get them back up to 90.

You are all so funny and helpful!

I appreciate the responses!

It seems as if this cheeping thing is only between the hours of 6-8:30pm (colic chicks?! LOL j/k). Chick-Chick was like that too. Is this maybe that end of the day settling in that birds do?

Anyway, they eventually quieted down and settled into their "bed", a rolled up towel molded into a circle. It's interesting though b/c only one likes to sleep in it, the other likes to sleep right outside. They do sleep w/o the light though with a heavy blanket covering it, the computer box handle holes for air.

We'll see if the pattern continues tonight after I get that red light!

I never did get that red light but they seem to be settling tonight with some cheepy outbursts now and then. Of course now that I've typed that, they're starting up again. I'll turn of the light and cover them up before I go to bed.

It's warm here tonight...about 73 with 73% humidity so it feels more like 75+.

I have the same thing going on with my two new little girls except during the day. Mine slept fine last night, though I did have to "put them to sleep" by letting them fall asleep at the computer! They are out now because they were cheeping so loud you could hear them two floors down! They roosting on my fingers as I type this post.

Mine are well feed, watered and warm too but they just want to be out of the brooder. They are my last two chicks so I'm going to allow them to be needy and spoil them a bit, though I'll probably regret it later
