Sorry if this has been addressed before--I'm sure it must have been, but I can't find it. If I get day-old chicks in the beginning of August, then it will be October when they move outside. I just want to make totally sure that they will be okay. By the second half of October it will probably be freezing overnight pretty regularly. By November it can be in the 30s all day. Will they be feathered out enough to take the weather?

Where do you live? That will help attract people to the thread who are from your area & can give you specific advice.

They will be OK by then. Just keep in mind about their feathers. If they got fuzzies anywhere on their lower bodies, they are not ready to go outside. Fuzzies on head would be ok as long they are feathering out about 90 percent.

I've had chicks in Feb and they were outside by mid March and they were fine.
