You CAN Raise Chicks Outside in Cold Weather

Yes, you should definitely be leaving the coop door open. It's actually best to lock them in the coop for a week or so at first so they know where home is. That is usually enough to get them to go back into the coop at night on their own.
So would it be better if I just locked them back up into the coop till Sunday or Monday? I think you’re right that it would teach them that that area is home.

Yes, I would lock them in there for at least a few days, as long as there is plenty of room, natural light, and ventilation in the coop.

Just put the food/water in the coop with them, they had gone in there while I got the drill/screws & rod to hang the food/water on. They seemed to kinda like it better in there, especially with this wind.

Maybe let them out on Friday or Saturday as it’s going to be nice weather for them.

Thanks!

This is what I needed to read! Thank you.
How do you feel about opening up the run to the chicks? They are the only ones, and it is predator proof. I’d like to let them run around with an option to always come back to get warm.

How old are your chicks? Main thing to check is that they know how to get back into the coop if they need it for shelter.
