*** AUGUST HATCH-A-LONG come join in ***

I forgot to say I am (we, chickipoos and I) are on day 20....
Arg!!
So I am making blueberry jam.. a huge vat of chili. Planting fall vegies and building a new chicken coopish thing...
Keeping busy. Sorta like knitting booties I guess

Well, the little lakenvelder is hanging in there just fine. He cheeps and cheeps when I come in the room and readily gobbles up the liquid food. Fingers crossed he makes it overnight and that the peachicks pip overnight as well.... still no sign of hatching from them

Is raising bator temps on day 16 a good sign? The temp shot up to 102 this evening for no reason. It took a big adjustment of the knob to get it back to normal. Should I be worried or is this normal? I don't remember that with my last hatch but then again I only had 4 hatch out of 12 last time, all the rest were infertile. (Can you tell I am horrible at candling brown eggs?)

Boo.... I cracked open the peafowl eggs and all 3 were dead days ago. I had thought that might be the case, my turner malfunctioned and dumped my eggs and I didn't discover it for a while.

The lakenvelder is looking worse for wear now...

I'm getting replacement Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucana eggs next week from the breeder, since only one egg hatched from my first batch two weeks ago! I should be setting them by next Thursday
