Auracana Laying GIANT Eggs

I'm worried about one of my girls that continually lays huge eggs with a softerthinner outer shell and a normal sized egg with a hard shell inside. She has been laying for about 8 months now, with normal eggs until about 2 months ago. At first, I thought it was a fluke or rarity, but this poor girl has now laid about 10 of them over the last couple months. She doesn't lay as often because her body seems to be working out these big ones. The density of the outer shell varies but she has only laid 2 normal eggs since she has started the double duty! I'm worried that she is egg bound or that she will be... Is there anything that I can do... or is she just destined to be that way? I have already soaked her bum (in warm water with a drop of soap) a couple times when it had been over a week without an egg and I could feel the giant egg stuck in there... I hope there is something I can do... Please help..

I had an Ameraucana hen that laid double yolk eggs quite frequently. They looked just like yours. She worked it out and now lays 5-6 normal eggs each week. Just keep an eye on her and make sure she's not getting egg-bound. She'll need help if that happens.

If she is egg-bound, you can use a q-tip and rub vaseline around and in her vent to lubricate the passage and help her to pass the egg. You may need to break the shell, but I'd see if she can pass it first.

When I saw the first egg I was in total shock & then I felt bad for my sweet girl! One of the big ones caused a prolapsed vent, which was not fun to guide back inside... but she seems completely unfazed.
