Hello from Austin -
I live in central Austin and there are a lot of 'city chicken' people around here. I've been on the BYC forum about a week. We have our first ever chicks, a total of 8, all from two local feed stores (originally from the Ideal hatchery). The first two are almost 4 weeks old I think - 2 Dominiques, Big Dot and Little Dot. The others are all about a week and a half old: 2 'ameraucanas' named Lucy & Ethel; 2 gold-laced wyandottes named Daisy and Buttercup; a Welsummer named Mildred Cubicle; and, a blue wyandotte, named Little Blue.
They all seem to be thriving well. We're about 3/4 through the coop build, so they are all in brooder boxes in the guest bathroom where we can manage temperature and keep them away from the dogs.
