no, no earmuffs, no beards. definitely not a minorca 'cause she lays brown eggs with that white earlobes. she's a mystery hen..

Are you sure she doesn't? In the picture, it looks like she has muffs.

She's got no autralorp, jersey, langshan, or sumatra. However, I would go on a limb and say she's a leghorn mix...

I've been thinking about this girl (and looking at her) a lot. My thoughts are going that she could be a Black Sexlink. BSL are mixes of a solid, non-barred roo over a barred hen,and the pullets are black with gold leakage (I can see some on her here.... by her earlobe and a bit on her breast by her wing). So I think that she's got EE in her from the little beard, and some barred hen for a mom. So the mom could be a California Gray, which is a Leghorn type, hence the white earlobes. OR... (I just love the breed selector tool...

) she could be part Vorwerk! They have white earlobes but lay brown eggs. They're a bantam breed, similar to Lakenvelders, but Lakenvelders lay white eggs.

Just my thoughts... I'm not sure on any of it.

She's not BSL... not pure. They have red earlobes and usually more gold than that. While their combs are large, they aren't floppy.

If she was crossed with your typical EE, she wouldn't have the huge floppy straight comb and her legs would be green/yellow, not black/yellow.
