Anyone have them? I've got a pair of young bluehead ducks coming in October that I'm very excited about!

I'm getting them from Holderread's Waterfowl Farm. Anyone had experience with them? In all my correspondences with them, they have been very, very friendly and helpful.

Im not even sure what they look like

Ive had ducks for a few years now, and I would have taken those for mallards at first glance. I feel like I insulted them, just because they have such a purdy name.

From what I have read about them in a few different sources, they are a very friendly breed. I'd been thinking about getting some mandarins or wood ducks for about 2 years but then I came across the Spots and that was it!

I've got three 6 year old Golden 300 hybrids female ducks which I got from Metzers in CA. They are great. Very personable, lay tons of eggs and are just a joy to have. The only drawback is they weigh 6-7 pounds but they have about as much waste

I decided to go with bantams this time around and I just didn't want to wait for the Golden 300's to kick the bucket, they could be around for years more!

I have them. I have kept them for about 6-7 years now. I love them. They are beautiful and have fairly calm, quiet personalities. I don't think they are as friendly as my Mini Appleyards, but they are great birds.

I cannot speak for the spotted ducks but Holderread is fabulous. I just got 11 beautiful, healthy, wonderful ducklings from them. Excellent people to do business with and not a single one of my duckies was anything but full of energy and ready to see me and food when I opened the box. Not a weak one in the bunch. they are 2 weeks old now and growing fast.

Funny, I just called Holderread's today to see if there was a chance they'd have some Australian Spotted ducklings. The answer was no - sold out. I will order for next year. I guess I have something to look forward to.

What I can't figure our, though, is what is the difference between Mini Appleyards and Australian Spotted. They look so much alike and seem to both be calm and good setters. I am wondering what the difference is?

Anybody?
