I ordered a Australorp rooster, but I was wondering if these are known to be nice or mean. I want to know if anyone had one of these before and know if it's nice or not. Thanks!

Meh.. Some breeds are 'known' for being great Roos... Some known for being bad.. But don't judge per breed... Judge on the rooster. if getting a chick keep it in a roo friendly environment... Older hens... Older, good rooster (not needed, but older hens a must).. Then you WILL end up with, min, a hen friendly rooster... Human depends how you handle them.

I'm getting 3 Australorps. How do I know which is a boy and which is a girl when their still a day or two old?

Ain't that the truth! Kept 2 'girls' from 1st rir hatch of the year and had 3 boys left after sales. 2 'girls' have been SO friendly, they even jump up in my lap when I sit down anywhere and are submissive to the hens. Those 'girls' are now 5 mths old and you can't deny the sickle feathers in the tails! But they are so friendly...unlike their Daddy Mr. Peck, if the name is any indication.
