I got these two from a bin labeled Blue Rock. But then one grew up to be completed black, with green metallic feathers. Not very Blue Rock of her. 😂
Do you think Black Betty is an Australorp? And do you think Snowy(the silver one) is a Blue Rock or a Blue Australorp?

My understanding is that "Blue Rocks" are a Blue Australorp male over a Barred Rock female (sex-linked cross.) But blue doesn't breed true, (it will give 25% black females and 25% blue females--the males will be barred.) So I am wondering if this chick accidentally didn't get taken out of the bin or was mistaken as "blue" while sorting them out. (So a black Blue Rock would be my guess.)

I think Snowy is a Blue Rock.

Interesting. I looked up if a blue rock could be black and everything I found said no. But your explanation makes sense.

It has the exact description of what a Blue Rock cross is on the bin and it says Andalusian. I would bet money that they’re using splash to ensure that the offspring are blue because I’ve never seen a black “blue sexlink.”

 (Maybe they were just covering their bases?)
Blue Rocks are an actual breed, too, as far as I know (they are rare), so who knows, but it's kind of misleading they are even calling a hatchery hybrid "Blue Rocks." It's Hoover's for you.

Blue Plymouth Rocks essentially unheard of rare. They wouldn’t be coming out of a hatchery
Right, that's why I said they were rare. I didn't read the bin label, but was taking the description off of Hoover's website. Read the bin label later.

It's actually from Mt. Healthy, I see, not Hoover's.
