We recently introduced a new Australorp hen to our flock. She is doing well tends to be a loner and holds her tail down when she is around the other hens (3 - 1 Australorp & 2 Barred Rocks)

Is this odd?

This can be a sign of egg binding. Is she laying? Is she acting lethargic? She may just hold her tail down.

She laid the day after we got her, but her eggs have been sporadic and she hasn't given us any in a couple of days. She runs around, scratching and such. Her tail is up as long as the others are too close or it is only one of the other hens.

She's a little stressed being the "new gal" and probably low in the pecking order. She should acclimate soon enough.
