Australorp w/ copper neck feathers?

I have a black Australorp Roo about 12 wks old getting new feathers in his neck that are copper colored. Is this normal for this breed?

I can't tell you if it is desired or not, but I have seen it a lot.

Highly undesirable, birds like this would be disqualified here, and should not be bred with unless you can not obtain better. If used select sons that are solid black.

that would make sense as the only australorps I have had or seen have been hatchery birds.

So the bit of copper I saw on a handful of body feathers on one of my young aussies is normal? I just spotted it today and right away started thinking I was sold a cross-breed rather than the heritage I was told they are.
