I've read the reviews but have a question. How are Australorps as mothers?

It's impossible to generalized a breed for something like being a good mother. Hatchery line don't often go broody. Show lines are more likely to go broody. Whether an individual will be a good mother depends on the individual, so your question can't really be answered unfortunately.
