Hi, I'm new to raising chickens and I purchased some chicks almost two months ago. 1 was supposed to be a sexed female Australorp. All the photos I've seen of Australorps they are completely black. This was black when a week old but now it's looking quite brown. Any ideas what breed this could be and if it is indeed female?

Not Australorp, Where did you by your chicks? Meyer hatchery has a chick identifier on line and free that might help.

I bought the chicks in Perth, Australia. I've emailed the hatchery to see what they rhin

I'm not sure about the breed, but if that bird is only two months old in the photo then it's a cockerel.
