Is a Australorp an Australian Orpington? In the process of trying to figure out how to pronounce the word I stumbled on the idea that it could be a nick name.

I am new to raising fowl so please excuse my ignorance if this is common knowledge among the poultry people.

I heard that Australorps are an english breed, though many websites say that they are australian. Mine seem to have thick coats, and seem pretty cold hardy, so that is why I thought they might be english as well. And they are similar to the Orpington, but a bit smaller and they also have smaller combs.

Australorps are an Australian breed that were bred from Orpingtons. With similarities to the Orpington, they are more English as a classified bird... But should not by any means be fluffy, that is for Orps not Australorps.
Pronounced... Ah-stra-lorp not ah-stra-lop there is an r.

I remember going to a show and seeing Australorps and they were as big as the New Jersey Giants. I might be getting a few from a breeder as a backup breed if he can't fill my original order. I wanted BJG as a backup but he said they're laying crap so I picked the Australorps. Can you tell the difference between BJG and BA when there're chicks? Or do you have to wait till there older? I might get both but I have no clue what he's going to give me.
