If you have black Australorps, where did you get them?
Added: Many breeders got their BA from Urch.
Chet has BBS Australorps. Usually the black has blue genes and is not considered a true black.Right now, I only have one BA pullet. I bought her from Chase who got his from the Hupp Farm line.

I could be completely wrong though.
If you are looking for Show Australorps, you need to get true black. Urch and Matt would be good sources. There are others but they are hard to find.
You could go to a show or check the winners of a show that is close to you. Urches take a lot of ribbons at the Minnesota show.
I hope you find some!I don't think that many in my area are even showing the Australorps. The people around here all seem to either have the mixed flocks, naked necks, or now the rage seems to be those smaller silkies and polish and frizzles? I want to have only the standard sized Australorps and to concentrate on improving them as the breed.
@BlueBaby talk to Kurt / RattlesnakeRidgeWV. He actually does have some fine SOP BA's. In the meantime, go to a show or two in your area, even if you don't plan to show. It will give you a better idea of who has what in your area, and you will be able to see some of the better representations of the breed. http://www.poultryshowcentral.com/poultry-show-dates.html Don't be afraid to speak to breeders, and ask which judges do the BA's, then speak to them about who has good stock.
