Auto chicken door opener . . . after one year?

I know this one runs off battery www.chickendoors.com

I'm not sure about the other one.

I'm actually looking for one that is battery operated myself.

However, I can run an extension cord into the coop.

This would be a little more pricey but a small solar panel, a battery and an inverter would convert any normal plug in model as well.

The Foy's unit runs on 4 AA batteries, not a 12 volt car battery. Yes, pricey, but WELL worth it. Really!

Dbounds, the unit is easier to install than the instructions suggest. They scared me too.

If you are installing it directly over the panel, it's very simple. Don't worry about any pulleys. The pull up cord outlet on the bottom of the controller box should be DIRECTLY over the hole in the door where you attach it. I use a big paperclip for the clip on the cord to the hole in the top of the panel. The rails have screws in both ends, but the bottom set of screws are the "blocks" for the bottom of the door where it stops, so be sure to screw them to the wall so the panel slides easily from the top down to the bottom.

Enjoy your auto door! It has been wonderful.

We have one like this, but with the light sensor on a wire. The battery operated opener is hung on the inside wall. It runs on AA batteries. The light sensor on a cable is connected to it and goes to the outside through a tiny hole that was drilled in the wall. The door and the channels it slides in are also installed on the inside and is connected to the opener by a thin cord, like heavy fishing line. You can enlarge the picture.

We bought from Wells originally, as it was before Foy's was carrying them. I don't know if this will help, but here is more information on installation. You can also click at the bottom of the page to look at diagrams.
